Army PARA SF, Navy MARCOS conduct high-altitude combat diving

The Indian Army’s PARA (Special Forces) and the Indian Navy’s MARINE COMMANDOS (MARCOS) jointly conducted a scuba and combat diving exercise in Sikkim at 17,000 ft from 30 August to 5 September.

The week-long training included open-circuit air diving, closed-circuit pure oxygen diving, dives up to 17 metres in freezing waters, and night combat diving. Conducted in treacherous terrain and sub-zero conditions, the exercise tested endurance, skill, and adaptability of India’s elite forces.

Officials said such high-altitude training enhances operational readiness, strengthens jointmanship between the Army and Navy, and sharpens specialised combat capabilities across diverse terrains—from the Himalayas to the seas.

The team commander remarked that training in extreme conditions ensures soldiers can operate effectively in any environment and reflects the commitment of the Special Forces to remain mission-ready for every challenge.
