Over monsoon preparedness, a round-the-clock control room, and emergency response teams have been activated to respond swiftly to rain-related emergencies.
De-silting of major drains across NDMC areas has been carried out to mitigate flooding risks, and a state-of-the-art sump with a capacity of 5 lakh litres has been installed at Purana Qila to address chronic water-logging.
A project worth Rs 13.10 crore has been approved for cleaning the Kushak and Ring Road drains using advanced robotic technology, ensuring efficiency and durability in the system.
It was also mentioned that 79 major roads in the NDMC area—including stretches near the Parliament, Prime Minister’s residence, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Connaught Place — will undergo reconstruction at an estimated cost of Rs 89.75 crore.
This project will be executed in collaboration with CSIR-CRRI, for which an MoU has been signed.
The NDMC will also install automatic mist systems to help control dust and help to reduce vehicular pollution on 24 selected roads.
A landmark decision has also been taken to create 346 smart classrooms in NDMC and Navyug schools, where classrooms will be equipped with Interactive Flat Panels (IFP), CCTV monitoring, and digital learning technologies to empower students with modern tools of education.
A long-term Water Supply Master Plan for the next 25 years has been approved for NDMC areas, ensuring sustainable, reliable, and equitable distribution of clean drinking water to residents.
To enhance the efficiency and transparency in public service delivery, the NDMC will undertake a comprehensive overhaul of its IT systems to support e-governance, smart service tracking, and quicker grievance redressal mechanisms. The Council has also approved improvement and strengthening works for the residences along Balmiki Sadak mandir Marg, ensuring better living conditions for residents in these areas.
To mark the birthday celebrations of PM Modi, the civic body will organize a special Seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2. The fortnight-long program will focus on public health drives, sanitation, community services, and citizen engagement activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Verma said, “Under the visionary leadership of PM Modi, NDMC is committed to shaping the roadmap for Viksit Bharat @2047. Today’s decisions—from robust monsoon preparedness and sustainable water planning to modern smart classrooms and pollution-control systems—demonstrate our resolve to provide world-class civic amenities.”
