Residents and farmers from 15–20 villages in South West Delhi’s Najafgarh area, currently struggling with flood-like conditions, met administrative officials on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The villagers, led by Sakal Panchayat Palam 360 chief Surender Solanki, met DCP Ankit Singh and DM M.C. Prasad to highlight their plight, Solanki said.

After receiving the memorandum, the DM took cognizance of the matter and directed the Chief Engineer and the SDM to visit the affected areas to assess the situation and expedite relief efforts.

Villages such as Dhansa, Isapur, Jharoda, Mundela, Kair, Shikarpur, Kanganheri, Rawta, Daurala, Ghumanhera, and Dichau Kala are currently facing severe water-logging and flood-like conditions, Solanki added.

According to the villagers, water flowing in from Haryana along with wastewater is worsening the problem. They said the situation is not only damaging agriculture but also severely affecting villagers’ health.

Solanki further said the DM assured that the issue would be taken up seriously and raised in an upcoming meeting with neighbouring Haryana. The administration has also assured rural residents that concrete steps will be taken to provide relief.
