“The matter came to attention when a woman, Rakhi Chhabra, registered an e-FIR on Saturday, alleging that her gold-plated ornaments, some cash, and documents were stolen on August 24,” said Kushal Pal Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro).

On the basis of the details provided by the complainant, the officer initiated an investigation where the CCTV footage was examined from the station, and later the suspect’s identity was revealed. The accused were seen moving suspiciously around the victim.

The DCP in his statement further added that on Monday, the team got their hands on the trio at the Sarai Kale Khan Metro Station.

Amid the probe, the officers confiscated the stolen gold-plated ornaments and Rs 2,500 from their possession.

According to the police, the women usually target unsuspecting commuters during peak hours. They operate by identifying vulnerable passengers, taking advantage of the crowd to pick valuables from bags or purses, and quickly deboarding at the next station.

Investigators said Sanjana is a habitual offender previously involved in three theft cases registered across various metro police stations, while Sandhya and Jahnvi have been linked to one previous theft case each at the Nehru Place Metro police station.

Further investigation into this matter is ongoing, the DCP stated.
