A new cultural project has been launched to retrace the ancient routes connected with Lord Krishna’s life. Non-profit organisation Sanatan Wisdom has begun a study to explore the places where Krishna is believed to have lived, studied, and travelled.
The idea has been inspired by the novel ‘The Krishna Effect’ and also connects with the Madhya Pradesh government’s Shri Krishna Pathey scheme. The scheme aims to promote pilgrimage routes and heritage linked to Krishna.

The team behind this research is led by philosopher and researcher Devrishi, also known as Rishikesh Pandey. Recently, they visited Ujjain to study the well-known Sandipani Ashram and the Narana area in Mahidpur.

According to ancient belief, Krishna and his brother Balram were students at Sandipani Rishi’s Gurukul. It is also said that Krishna, along with his childhood friend Sudama, once went to the Narana forest to collect wood.
Today, the Krishna-Sudama temple stands at that spot.
During their visit, the researchers interacted with people connected to the ashram, archaeologists, and historians. Among those who shared their knowledge were Padma Shri awardee Dr. Bhagwati Lal Rajpurohit and Shriram Tiwari, who serves as cultural adviser to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
The research is not limited to Ujjain. The team is covering several important sites, including Mathura, Janapav, Amjhera, Narana, and Dwarka.
Speaking about the initiative, Devrishi said that the aim is much larger than just research. “We believe this study on Krishna’s route will bring international attention to India’s cultural heritage. It will also help the younger generation connect with their traditions and rich culture. At the same time, it will encourage spiritual tourism, which can also benefit local communities.”

Co-founder Sadhana Pandey added that the organisation is also working on a documentary series alongside the field research. The series will showcase Krishna’s journey and the places linked with him, and it is likely to release soon on an OTT platform.
