Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Sunday accused the Rekha Gupta-led BJP government in the capital of pursuing “anti-poor policies” while neglecting basic civic and educational needs.

Yadav said the government had prioritised projects such as constructing a new Secretariat and renovating ministerial bungalows, while ignoring pressing issues like repairing broken roads, desilting drains to prevent waterlogging, reopening primary health centres, and ensuring regular water and power supply.

He alleged that the tanker mafia, empowered under the previous AAP regime, continued to operate freely under the present BJP-led administration.

Highlighting the plight of slum dwellers, Yadav said demolitions of JJ clusters had displaced the poor, who had endured harsh living conditions in the hope of securing better education for their children. He claimed that both the BJP and AAP had failed to improve Delhi’s government schools.

Citing a recent Directorate of Education survey, Yadav said over 100 schools still relied on water tankers, while many lacked electricity. He added that infrastructure in government schools had deteriorated over the past seven months.

He contrasted this with the Congress’s tenure, claiming its policies had transformed government schools into “model educational hubs” for ordinary families.
