PM Modi also reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Japan, emphasising cooperation in key areas including military modernisation and industry partnership, building a resilient and trusted semiconductor value chain, exploring opportunities for cooperation in space exploration, and enhancing trade and investment partnership.

“India and Japan will continue to be a force for peace, progress, and stability in Asia and the world,” PM Modi said, underscoring the shared vision of both nations. The two countries are set to adopt a Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation, advancing their ambition for a secure and stable Indo-Pacific region, he said.

Asserting that strengthening collaboration in the defence sector, with a focus on military modernisation and industry partnership, would be a key area of cooperation with Japan, PM Modi stressed building a resilient and trusted semiconductor value chain by combining India’s scale and capabilities with Japan’s advanced technologies. He also stated that there would be a focus on exploring opportunities for cooperation in space exploration, including the Chandrayaan-5 mission.

Enhancing trade and investment partnership, with a focus on diversifying the trade basket and opening up new frontiers, is also a key area for cooperation, including the promotion of cultural exchanges, language education, and mutual understanding between India and Japan to strengthen ties for peace, progress, and stability.
