Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Speaking at the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan in Motihari, Bihar, the senior Congress leader asserted that he does not make baseless allegations. “If I accuse you of stealing something, would you stay silent? But the prime minister is silent. That’s only because he is guilty,” he said.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi alleged on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained silent despite repeated accusations of vote theft because he is “guilty”.

Citing the Mahadevapura Assembly seat in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi said vote rigging occurred not only in the Bangalore Central constituency during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections but in 70-80 constituencies across the country. The Congress party has begun investigating electoral fraud in other regions, similar to what was found in Mahadevapura.

“I have received messages from several BJP leaders urging me not to call Modi a ‘vote chor’ (vote thief). But I will not remain silent. I will continue to expose the BJP’s vote theft scheme across the country,” he asserted.
Rahul warned of a “deep design” by the BJP to delete 65 lakh voters from the electoral rolls. “The BJP’s intention is to replace these voters with fake ones,” he alleged.
He said that the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra aims to send a strong message to the Election Commission of India — that the people of Bihar will not tolerate any form of electoral fraud.
Expressing confidence in Bihar’s electorate, Rahul praised their political awareness and said they would not allow the BJP to ‘steal’ their votes.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav invoked the legacy of his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and asserted that neither Lalu nor his family members had ever bowed down to the RSS or BJP, and vowed to carry that legacy forward.
He said Lalu Yadav changed the socio-political dynamics in the country, empowering Dalits and backward communities while upholding secularism by resisting communal forces.
“So far, only 4 to 5 per cent of the Mandal Commission’s recommendations have been implemented. Once we form the government, we will implement every one of those recommendations. Beyond social justice, we will ensure economic justice as well,” he said.
