At least two children were killed and 17 others were injured in a shooting at a Catholic school in the city of Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota in the US on Wednesday.
According to local media reports, the attack occurred at Annunciation Catholic School during morning Mass.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that prima facie the attack appears to be a “deliberate act of violence against children and worshippers”.

The attacker was armed with a rifle, shotgun and pistol. After shooting the students throw the church window, he reportedly shot himself.
The two children killed in the attack were 8 and 10-years-old, respectively. Of the 17 injured, 14 are children and seven of them are said to be critical.
Local authorities have urged people to avoid the area although there was no immediate threat to public safety.

US President Donald Trump, reacting to the shooting, said he has been fully briefed about the situation and that White House will continue to monitor the situation.
“I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!” Trump said on Truth Social.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also reacted to the tragedy and expressed his sympathy for the kids and teachers of the Annunciation Catholic School.
“I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information. The BCA and State Patrol are on scene. I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence,” he posted on X.
The Annunciation Catholic School serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The new school year began on Monday and an all-school Mass was going on when the shooting happened.
