A 22-year-old associate of the Himanshu Bhau Gang, who was wanted in a murder case, was arrested by the Delhi Police, officials said on Wednesday.
The police said the gangster, who has been identified as Sumit, was a resident of Ramrai Village in Haryana’s Jind. He was nabbed with a loaded semi-automatic pistol and three live cartridges.

“Following a tipoff, a trap was laid on Narela-Bawana Road on Tuesday, and Sumit was intercepted when he arrived to meet an associate,” Harsh Indora, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.
Sumit came into the limelight after the murder of 25-year-old Mohit Dagar. Dagar was gunned down allegedly by the accused in the Mohan Garden area of Delhi on August 4.
According to the DCP, three unidentified men on a red-and-black Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle had opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. Later, the Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility for the murder.
Based on this information, a case was registered against him at the Crime Branch police station.
During sustained questioning, Sumit confessed to have been part of the murder conspiracy and revealed that gang members, Raman, Karan, and Pongi had visited his village earlier this month with weapons and asked him, along with another associate, Aman, to arrange a motorcycle for the murder.
While the two failed to source one initially, eventually bought a bike using Aman’s Aadhaar card, which was later used in the crime.
Officer Indora said in a statement, “Sumit, class 8 dropout, turned to crime when faced with financial distress following his father’s death one-and-a-half years ago.”
Earlier this year, he was arrested in a case in Jind under the Arms Act. During his incarceration, he came in contact with the Himanshu Bhau gang members. After his release, he stayed in constant touch with them and eventually involved himself in criminal activities.
So far, two other accused, including Aman from the same village, have already been arrested in connection with the murder.
The police have registered two separate cases against Sumit, one under the Arms Act in Delhi, and another of murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the Mohan Garden police station area.
Further investigations are underway to identify and arrest other members of the gang involved in the murder, the DCP stated.
