Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday stated that recent natural disasters in Uttarakhand hills have a definite pattern. All major incidents that occured this monsoon followed a definite trend of heavy rain on higher hills triggering flash floods in small rivers and depositing massive muck carrying debris and boulders brought down by the rivers.

“Looking at the way recent Dharali and other disasters happened in the state, there is a pattern in the almost all the landslides.
Situation is same every where. Nature and type of debris flow is same. It’s coming down with great speed and without letting anyone understand what happened. People were caught off the hook. I have been told that disaster hit residential locations in chamoli and other places have also developed cracks” said Dhami talking to a select group of media.
Chief minister further informed “a panel constituting experts from Wadia Institute Dehradun, NDMA of government of India and from the state will be formed to study the pattern and find the cause behind landslides occurring in a pattern. Panel will also recommended the measures to prevent this and mitigate the impacts of natural disaster.”
It’s notable tha three big cloudbursts resulting into flash floods and several landslides have taken place across the state in the last nearly a month. Nature of cause behind flash floods were almost same, breaking down of glacial lakes formed on the hill tops.
