Dinesh Mangaluru, KGF and ‘Kantara’ actor, passes away in Udupi

The veteran actor, best remembered for his impactful role in ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’, had been battling health issues. According to his family, he suffered a brain hemorrhage last week.

A familiar face of Kannada cinema is no more. Dinesh Mangaluru, the actor who won the hearts of audiences with his powerful screen presence, breathed his last at his home in Udupi, Karnataka.

The veteran actor, best remembered for his impactful role in ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’, had been battling health issues. According to his family, he suffered a brain hemorrhage last week.

He was treated at a hospital in Kundapur for several days, but when his condition did not improve, he was brought home. He passed away in the early hours of Monday.

Before appearing in front of the camera, he was already a popular name behind the scenes. He worked as an art director for many Kannada films. Some of his art direction work included movies like ‘Prarthane, Tughlaq, Bettada Jeeva, Suryakanthi, Modalasala, Veera Madakari, Vayuputra, Omkaara,’ and ‘Kiccha’.

Dinesh Mangaluru later stepped into acting, and became a familiar presence in Kannada films. His filmography is filled with memorable titles such as ‘Ricky, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Rana Vikrama, Ambari, Savaari, Inthi Ninna Preethiya, Aa Dinagalu, Slum Bala, Durga, Smile, Atithi, Prema, Nagamandala,’ and ‘Shubham’.

His colleagues remember him as a man full of life, always ready with a smile or a lighthearted joke. Actress Sangeetha Bhat shared an emotional note on Instagram, remembering how Dinesh supported her during her difficult days.

She wrote, “You will be terribly missed. The most jovial, skilled, and warm-hearted person. Even on days when your health was low, you gave your roles everything. Our long conversations about your art direction days will stay with me forever.”
