Senior IPS officer SBK Singh appointed as Delhi’s Director General (Prisons)

On Thursday, Satish Golcha, a senior IPS officer from the 1992 batch who was serving as the Director General (Prisons), took charge as the Delhi Police Commissioner, succeeding Singh, who held the position for only 21 days.

SBK Singh, a senior IPS officer, was appointed as the Director General (Prisons) on Saturday, an order issued by the government said.
Singh, an IPS officer of batch 1988 of the AGMUT cadre, who was serving as the Director General (Home Guards), was assigned additional responsibility as the Delhi Police Commissioner by an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued on July 31.

On Thursday, Satish Golcha, a senior IPS officer from the 1992 batch who was serving as the Director General (Prisons), took charge as the Delhi Police Commissioner, succeeding Singh, who held the position for only 21 days.

“The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor is pleased to transfer Sh. S B K Singh, IPS (AGMUT: 1988), holding the charge of Director General (Home Guards) and post him as Director General (Prisons) with immediate effect,” the order read.

Following the assault on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing at her Civil Lines office on Wednesday, Satish Golcha was appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner the next day. The officials, however, have denied any link between the attack and posting.
