Launching a blistering attack on the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and ‘fascist’ BJP at the Centre, the nascent actor-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Vijay today asserted and reiterated his declartion that both the DMK and BJP are his party’s political and ideological enemies.

“A lion knows how to stand alone and how to lead a pride. There are many jackals and other animals in the forests, but there is only one lion”, he said, adding, the lion would come out only for hunting its prey that would be bigger and powerful than it.

“Even if it is hungry, it will not eat…. If such a lion touches anything, it will not leave”, he said. “Lion is always a Lion…it will not lose its identity…It can stay alone and also in groups”, he declared.

Reiterating his assertion made at the TVK’s first state-level conference in Villuppuram district in October last year, Vijay, in a fiery speech, said, “Our only political enemy is always the DMK, our ideological enemy is always the BJP (which he termed as fascist)”.

Announcing that TVK will never ally with the fascist BJP backed by the RSS by surrendering its self-respect, Vijay declared that the main and straight fight in the 2026 Assembly polls, due in eight months, will only be between the TVK and the DMK. “This is a voice that no one can silence. This crowd is not just for votes; it will turn into a hunt for power send the hunters packing home in 2026…Shall we show that we can capture power”, he said.

I am going to make a ‘surprise announcement. I am going to announce the list of TVK candidates for the elections”, he said.

Vijay first declared that he will be the candidate for the Madurai East Assembly seat in 2026, and named Vijay as candidates for more Assembly constituencies in and around Madurai, that included Madurai, South, Madurai North, Madurai Central, Madurai West, Tiruparankundram, Sholavndan, Melur, and others.

Stating that his message was symbolic, emphasising that whereever TVK candidages contest across the state, it should be as as if he himself was contesting and that every vote cast for the TVK would be a voted for him.

Asserting that he would never forge any director of backdoor alliance with the ‘fascist’ BJP, he said TVK will contest in all 234 seats. “In each and every constituency, it is your own people from your homes who will be the candidates. People should vote as though I myself was contesting…I am the symbol of the part”.

Outlining his party’s priorities while taking potshots at the DMK and the BJP, Vijay said safety of women, girls children and the elderly would be his party’s foremost priority and said in 2026 we will send home the DMK government packing.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the fishermen issue and the frequent and unabated arrests of TN fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, Vijay accused Mr Modi and the VJP-led government at the Centre of showing no concern for fishermen and urged him to take steps to retrieve Katchatheevu, an islet ceded to Sri Lanka through an agreement in 1974, to protect the fishermen and ensure their safety.

Urging Mr Modi to provide exemption to Tamil Nadu from NEET, Vijay said “I ask you as a represenative of the people, Did you come to power for the third time to work for the people or to conspiracy against the minorities in the country.

Pointing out that the Centre was trying to hide the Keezhadi archaeological excavation findings and trying to destroy the Tamil pride, Vijay said the centre’s ploy will not bear fruit in this secular land.

“Whatever you do, the BJP will not win. Water will not stick on Lotus leaves”, he said in a symbolic
statement.

“BJP cannot win in TN with any alliance”, he said, while slamming the main Opposition AIADMK–which had revived its ties with the saffron party for the 2026 polls–accusing it of deviating from the ideals of party founder MGR.

Launched a broadside on Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin, alleging that the DMK government had misled women, government staff, and various sections with unfulfilled elections, he exhorted his party cadres to ensure the DMK’s defeat in the 2026 polls and said TVK was an unstoppable voice and an unstoppable force.

Launching a direct attck on him, Vijay said, “Stalin uncle, what uncle, it’s very wrong, uncle…answer us Stalin uncle”.

Recalling his emotional bond with leaders like MGR and Vijayakanth, he said the people
of Madurai are deeply emotional. “In both cinema and politics, our favourite leader has been MGR. I never had the opportunity to spend time with him, but I had plenty of opportunities to be with my brother Vijayakanth, who shared the same qualities. He too belonged to this very soil of Madurai.”.
