Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan came down heavily on the Opposition parties for opposing the legislation to bar criminals from holding high ministerial posts.
Speaking on the death anniversary of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and the third Hindu Gaurav Day, Pradhan said it’s natural for parties like the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and their allies full of criminals to question the law. Once the legislation is enacted, they will find themselves in the dock.

Citing the example of Kalyan Singh not signing the order to shoot at Ram bhakts during the Ram Mandir movement and resigning from power and that of Kejriwal not leaving power even after going to jail on corruption charges, Pradhan questioned the morality of the Congress and the other Opposition parties.
He said Kalyan Singh was not just a person or a leader but an idea and a ritual.
On the occasion, senior BJP leaders, Uma Bharti, Kalraj Mishra, Deputy Chief Ministers of UP Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP state president Bhupendra Chaudhary, and Rajveer Singh remembered Kalyan Singh, calling him the inspiration of nationalism and good governance.
Dharmendra Pradhan said that a law was placed before the Joint Parliamentary Committee in the Parliament yesterday. “According to the law, if the prime minister of the country, chief minister of any state, and minister go to jail, they will have to leave the throne within 30 days,” he said.
He said Narendra Modi has been the prime minister of the country for 11 years and he will remain the prime minister for the next decade, despite this he brought a law that whether it is PM, CM or any minister, he will have to leave the throne within 30 days of arrest.
Pradhan further said that Kalyan Singh also had to pay the price for refusing to fire on Ram Bhakts in 1991. This was not a crime but he took forward a work of national pride. But the Congress government at the Centre dismissed Kalyan Singh’s government. They did the same in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan too. But today, they themselves are raising questions against his resignation.
Taking a dig at the Opposition, Pradhan said yesterday the Yuvraj of the Congress party was saying Modi ji wants to bring a medieval black law. It is natural for you to be afraid because there are criminals in your party. “Whether your colleague, Arvind Kejriwal, went to jail for hoisting the tricolour like Uma? Did Kejriwal leave the throne for nationalism like Babuji (Kalyan Singh)?” he asked before answering, “No, he had to go to jail for corruption, yet he did not leave the throne.”
Dharmendra Pradhan said Kalyan Singh ji was not just a person or a leader, he was an idea and a ritual. In 2004, when Babu ji was a Lok Sabha member, I also came to the Lok Sabha for the first time with him. He was the chairman of the parliamentary committee and I worked with him as a member. He is known across the country today as a Hindutva leader. During this time, I got the opportunity to closely observe the personality of a mixture of both nationalism and harmony.
He said in the 90s, Singh established good governance in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh was in a bad state but when he became the chief minister with the blessings of the people, good governance was established in the state. Yogi Adityanath is taking forward the same good governance and ideals. He was a Hindu leader but the Ram Janmabhoomi movement would not have been so big and successful without his contribution.
Pradhan said in the form of Prime Minister Modi in Delhi and in the form of Yogi Adityanath in UP, we are taking forward the ideals of Kalyan Singh and this is a true tribute to him.
Speaking on the occasion, former Madhya Pradesh CM Uma Bharti said, “Today, we gathered in the memory of Kalyan Singh ji and got to hear good news. Aligarh’s name has been changed and some other places have also been changed too. I appeal to Yogi ji to change Shahjahanpur’s name in two-four days. Try to erase all the memories of the slavery era.”
Taking a dig at Akhilesh Yadav, she said he says what is there in a name. How will the one whose mind itself has a slave mentality know what is there in a name. Only the one who has national self-respect will understand the glory of a name.
As soon as Kalyan Singh became the chief minister, the law and order of Uttar Pradesh came completely under control. After his tenure, the destruction that happened during the SP and BSP era, the nexus of corrupt and criminals, was finally destroyed and brought to the abyss by his younger brother and guru-like Yogi Adityanath, she alleged.
She said today, the hearts of criminals are shaken and it is a matter of happiness that Yogi Adityanath carried forward the tradition that has been going on since Babuji’s tenure. Remembering Kalyan Singh, she said even if his head is cut, we will not let your moustache fall down.
Former governor, Kalaraj Mishra, remembering Kalyan Singh, said as soon as his name comes, it seems he is sitting in front of us. We had a very close relationship which cannot be described in words.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the BJP government was formed in the state for the first time under the leadership of Kalyan Singh. The era of Akhilesh Yadav’s fake victim card is not going to be fulfilled as Akhilesh Yadav only knows how to divide.
He also demanded Bharat Ratna for Kalyan Singh. If the name of Jalalabad has been changed to Parshuram, then it will not be late to change the name of Aligarh to Harigarh. Also, he said that in 2027 also BJP is going to repeat the decision of 2017.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also remembered Kalyan Singh, saying the name of Pujya Babuji is taken with great reverence and faith in the whole of India. He worked to put everything at stake for the flag of Sanatan Dharma throughout his life.
