Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is set to operate flights round the clock starting from Saturday, marking the end of its four-hour daily suspension of services.

The change follows the successful completion of runway recarpeting and the construction of two additional taxiways, sources here said.

The upgraded 2,744-meter-long runway now features a modernized lighting system, enhancing both safety and efficiency. With the two new taxiways supplementing the existing five, aircraft will be able to move more swiftly from the apron to the runway.

This improvement is expected to reduce congestion during peak hours and minimize delays.

Currently, the airport remains closed for flight operations between 11 AM and 3 PM. This window, considered one of the busiest periods for long-haul domestic flights, has caused passenger inconvenience over the past few months.

Once the restriction is lifted, the eight flights canceled since March 1 will be restored, and rescheduled services during this period will return to their original slots.

At present, Lucknow Airport handles 128 daily flights to 28 domestic destinations, along with 8–10 international services. Looking ahead, officials confirmed plans for further runway expansion.
The district administration has already initiated the acquisition of 54 acres of land across five villages in the Bijnor area for this purpose.

The four-hour suspension of flight services was imposed on March 1 this year to facilitate large-scale runway maintenance and modernization.
During this period, several flights were either canceled or shifted to different time slots, causing inconvenience to passengers traveling during the crucial midday window. With the upgrades now complete, the airport is ready to resume seamless 24/7 operations.
