Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav asserted on Wednesday that the Bhopal Police have taken firm action against the accused involved in illegal drug trade, and such action will continue regardless of the accused’s influence or reach.

The arrests were also followed by the demolition of properties worth nearly Rs 100 crore, said to be built on encroached land by Shahwar’s brother Shareef Ahmad, who is a member of the MP BJP Minorities Cell, and other members of the Machli family in Bhopal.

CM Dr Yadav was addressing the state-level mass oath-taking ceremony for a drug-free society, organised at Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal, on the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

CM Dr Yadav said addiction sets back the happiness and prosperity of families, society, and the nation.

The CM assured that the state government is making every possible effort to achieve the resolution of a drug-free Madhya Pradesh.

He informed that liquor shops and bars have been banned in 19 religious areas of the state.

He said the police are tightening their grip on the masterminds of the drug trade. The efforts are underway to raise social awareness for a drug-free Madhya Pradesh, along with strict law enforcement. The government is determined to root out the menace of drugs from society, the CM reiterated.
