Approximately 8,000 people took part in the ‘Tiranga Yatra’, resonating a message of patriotism and unity throughout the area.

In his address, Sood said, “Today, organisations from across Janakpuri and its young children have gathered in large numbers to help build a developed Delhi, a developed Janakpuri, and a developed India. The Tiranga Yatra is not just a celebration of Independence Day, but also a message of cleanliness and positive social change.”

Sharing his childhood memories of Independence Day with the children in the yatra, he said August 15th is not merely a day for hoisting flags and flying kites, but an opportunity to do something meaningful for the country.

He emphasised the use of indigenous products and urged people not to use Chinese manjha for kite flying, but to adorn the sky with domestic manjha and tricolour kites. This, he said, would also be an example of doing something meaningful for the country.

Recalling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s slogan, “You give me blood, and I will give you freedom,” Sood said that today the country does not need blood, but passion, good values, and active contributions to society.

Remembering the martyrs of Kargil, the Delhi Education Minister said that the dedicated lives of those brave young soldiers remain an inspiration for all of us. “The sacrifices made by youths barely 20 to 25 years old are astounding. I truly believe there is something special in those individuals that compels them to sacrifice their lives for the nation,” he said.
