Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted in Bihar by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for an error-free updated roll, the copies of the draft electoral roll published on August 1 have been distributed among the representatives of all major political parties of the state for perusal.
The poll panel said in case the name of any eligible voter is not available in the draft voter list, the parties can file claims and objections, if any, to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) concerned on or before September 1.

It is said the representatives and the booth level agents (BLAs) of major political parties appreciated the efforts and assured of assistance to the election machinery, the block-level officer (BLO) in the preparation of an error-free electoral roll.
According to rules, the claims and objections are to be disposed of by concerned ERO/AERO after the expiry of seven days following the verification of eligibility documents.
As per the SIR orders, no name can be deleted from the draft list published on August 1, without passing a speaking order by the ERO/AERO after conducting an enquiry and after giving a fair and reasonable opportunity.
