Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has alleged that the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress are running away from discussions in the ongoing monsoon session of the state legislature.

“The opposition is creating a ruckus and disrupting the proceedings of the House. The government is ready to discuss every issue. The opposition members relax outside like Kumbhakarna and, when it’s time for discussion, they create disturbances and stall the proceedings,” he charged.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Rajbhar said there has been significant improvement in law and order in the state.

“There has not been a single riot in the eight-and-a-half years of the BJP government, and curfew has never been imposed even once. Earlier, during the SP government, there was hooliganism in the state and jobs were given on the basis of caste. That is why they are avoiding discussions, fearing their misdeeds will be exposed,” he added.

Rajbhar further claimed that the state’s power supply has improved under the Yogi Adityanath government.

“Earlier, villages would get only four to five hours of electricity, and there was a system where supply alternated between day and night on a weekly basis. Now, rural areas receive 10 hours of power, tehsil headquarters get 20 hours, and district headquarters have 24-hour supply. This improvement is real, but the SP is avoiding discussion as it would reveal the truth,” he alleged.

For the past two days, SP members have been disrupting the proceedings of the UP Assembly — yesterday over the alleged insult to the Leader of the Opposition in Gorakhpur, and today over the violence in Fatehpur.
