Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh on Friday refuted the allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding compassionate appointments and the disbursal of the Teacher Welfare Fund.

He dismissed the AAP claims in this regard as baseless and misleading, accusing the party of distorting facts by obstructing welfare initiatives meant for municipal employees and their families in pursuit of petty politics.

“AAP is a party that failed to deliver anything substantial for the employees and their families while in power, and now, even in the Opposition, it remains preoccupied with blame games and disruptive politics,” he said.

He further added that when the AAP held power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi until June 2024, 27 eligible dependents of deceased teachers were made to run from pillar to post for compassionate appointments. Despite having complete documentation, the appointment process was deliberately stalled, causing severe mental distress to the affected families.

Mayor Singh stated that immediately after the BJP assumed power in the MCD, priority was accorded to resolving these long-pending compassionate appointments, and appointment letters are now being issued to the eligible dependents. “The BJP has always prioritized the welfare of employees and their families,” he added.
