Continuing their unabated attack against the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, the BJP central ministers accused him of lying to the general public about fake electors getting registered in the voters’ list and threatening the Election Commission of India for doing it to benefit “one particular party”.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Bhupender Yadav said that Gandhi’s statements lack credibility and should be discounted by “at least 60 per cent.”

On August 2, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also dared the LoP to make public the “atom bomb proof” that he was talking about concerning the EC allegedly indulging in unethical practices and accused him of telling lies to the public.

“Rahul Gandhi is losing credibility, as he has been lying about the Election Commission of India. Whatever he says, we should reduce its value by 60 per cent right away,” Yadav claimed, rejecting his claims regarding alleged voter manipulation and inflated electoral rolls in Maharashtra.

Yadav slammed Gandhi for saying that the number of voters in Maharashtra rose by one crore between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.

Citing official data from the Election Commission, the central minister clarified that the actual difference was approximately 40 lakh voters—making LoP Gandhi’s claim exaggerated by over 60 per cent.

“This shows his entire narrative is built on lies,” Yadav added.

Further, the Union Minister also accused the Congress of allegedly threatening officials of the Election Commission of India.

“When we come to power, there will be consequences for EC officers. This is what Rahul Gandhi said. Is this the language suited for a leader of the opposition in a democracy?” he asked.

He said Gandhi was undermining important democratic institutions, including the Election Commission, the Supreme Court, and even the Indian Army.

The BJP minister pointed to various Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra where voter increases were observed between Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, but the winning candidates came from opposition parties such as NCP (Sharad Pawar), Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Samajwadi Party.

“If there was manipulation, how did the Opposition still win?” he asked and said the Congress was making “fake narratives” to serve the interest of one family (hinting at Gandhis) at the cost of public trust.
