Actor Vijay Deverakonda, known for his roles in popular films like ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Liger’, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday for questioning related to an investigation into money laundering.
This case is linked to illegal online betting and gambling activities operated by certain platforms. The actor visited the ED’s zonal office to provide information regarding the ongoing probe.

The appearance of Vijay Deverakonda follows a similar one by actor Prakash Raj, who was questioned by the ED on July 30. Other prominent actors, including Rana Daggubati and Lakshmi Manchu, have also been summoned by the agency for questioning in connection with the case.

These celebrities are being investigated for their alleged role in endorsing online betting apps that are suspected of generating illicit funds.
According to reports, these online betting platforms are accused of using celebrities to promote their services, which are believed to have been involved in illegal gambling operations. These platforms are said to have generated large sums of money, amounting to crores of rupees, through activities that violate the law.
The actors, including Deverakonda, are being questioned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED is recording their statements as part of the investigation. The case stems from several First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by state police, which were later referred to the ED.
These FIRs allege that the actors and other celebrities may have knowingly or unknowingly endorsed the platforms that promote illegal betting, in exchange for celebrity fees.
While some of these celebrities have denied any involvement in illegal activities, stating they were unaware of the platforms’ illegal operations, the ED is continuing its investigation.
Vijay Deverakonda began his acting career with the 2011 film ‘Nuvvila’ and gained massive fame after his 2017 hit film ‘Arjun Reddy’. His successful career, coupled with his popularity, made him a prime candidate for endorsements.
