“Due to the efforts of the government, these pilgrimage sites have now developed into major tourist destinations as well as sources of inspiration. However, for economically weaker sections, visiting these places remains difficult. Therefore, to support them, a scheme named ‘Ambedkar Teerth Sthal Yatra Yojana’ should be launched, so that people can easily visit and experience five major places associated with Dr Ambedkar’s life,” the RLD chief said.
The Union minister further stated in his letter that under the scheme, provision can be made for visiting Panchtirthi (Mhow-Janmabhoomi, London-Shiksha Bhoomi, Delhi-Mahaparinirvan Sthal, Nagpur-Diksha Bhoomi, and Mumbai-Chaitya Bhoomi), all significant sites associated with the life of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. This visit would be completely free of cost to ensure that no person is deprived of the opportunity due to financial constraints. A transparent and simple selection process can be developed for this purpose, taking into account age, qualification, and other social factors.
He said that the scheme would help people understand Dr Ambedkar’s principles and his visionary ideas for building an egalitarian society. It would not only promote social harmony but also serve as a concrete step towards realising Dr Ambedkar’s dreams.
National General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal Anil Dubey said that Jayant Chaudhary has proposed organising free visits to the Panchtirth associated with Baba Saheb’s life under this scheme. He added that launching this historic initiative from Uttar Pradesh would serve as a guiding example for the entire country.
