Two-wheeler riders not wearing a helmet would not be allowed to buy petrol from fuel pumps in Bhopal and Indore from 1 August onwards as the collectors of the two major cities of Madhya Pradesh have passed prohibitory orders in this regard.
Instructions have been given to all the fuel pump owners in the two cities to strictly adhere to the orders, or face action.

Bhopal Collector and District Magistrate (DM) Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, and Indore DM Asheesh Singh issued the said orders for their respective cities citing safety as the reason for the same. They said two-wheeler riders not wearing a helmet are liable to suffer serious consequences and also pose a risk to others in the event of a road accident.

The orders have been issued to increase the adherence and compulsion of wearing helmets while riding two wheelers.
The order states that individuals and fuel pump owners violating the instructions and providing fuel to helmet less riders would face action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which includes imprisonment up to one year or a fine up to Rs 5000 or both.
The order would initially remain in effect till 29 September 2025.
