In a coordinated crackdown on the alleged Rs 650 crore scam involving the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC), joint teams of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) carried out simultaneous raids at multiple locations in Raipur and Durg on Wednesday morning.

The fresh round of searches focused on the premises of Mokshit Corporation, a key player under investigation, and the residence of Kamalkant Patanwar, Technical General Manager of CGMSC, located in Bhathagaon, Raipur. Both ED and EOW personnel were present on site, conducting detailed searches for financial documents, procurement records, and other evidence related to the scam.

“Raids are being conducted as part of the ongoing probe into large-scale irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment and supplies. Evidence is being scrutinised, and further legal action will follow,” a senior EOW official told The Statesman on condition of anonymity.

In Durg, ED and EOW teams simultaneously targeted three residential and commercial premises linked to Mokshit Corporation. The operation, involving over two dozen officers and CRPF personnel, was conducted under strict security protocols. The sites were sealed, and public access was restricted during the searches.

Earlier investigations revealed that five senior officials, including Kamalkant Patanwar, Vasant Kaushik (General Manager), Dr Anil Parsai (Deputy Director, Health), and others, were remanded to EOW custody in connection with the scam. The agencies suspect that inflated procurement contracts and forged records were used to siphon off public funds.

Wednesday’s raids follow earlier enforcement actions. Notably, in January 2025, EOW and ACB teams had searched Ganjpara premises linked to Mokshit Corporation and its associates. Those raids had reportedly unearthed irregularities in billing and supply chains.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on Wednesday’s recoveries. However, officials indicated that a comprehensive press briefing may be held once the analysis of seized documents is complete. As the investigation deepens, the raids signal the state’s intent to pursue accountability in one of Chhattisgarh’s most high-profile corruption cases in recent years.
