Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday confirmed that three terrorists – Suleman alias Faizal, Afghan and Jibran – who were involved in the Pahalgam attack, were neutralised by security forces during Operation Mahadev near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar on July 28.

“In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack,”  Shah told Lok Sabha during a debate on Operation Sindoor.

Shah further stated that all three were A-category terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.

“Suleman was an A-category commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Afghan was an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. And Jibran was also an A-grade terrorist… All three terrorists who killed our citizens in the Baisaran valley have been eliminated,” he said.

He further informed that people who used to supply food to these terrorists were detained earlier.

Earlier on Monday, the Indian Army had said that the three heavily armed terrorists were killed in ‘Operation Mahadev’, a joint operation by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, launched in the Harwan area on the outskirts of Srinagar.

However, their identities could not be confirmed, and the Jammu and Kashmir police stated that it would take some time. Shah told the House that the bodies were taken to Srinagar, where their associates who were detained earlier confirmed their identities.,

“Once the bodies of these terrorists were brought to Srinagar, they were identified by those who were kept detained by our agencies,” he said.

Shah said that the rifles seized from the three terrorists matched the FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack, which further confirmed their involvement in the Pahalgam attack.

“The FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack was already ready… Yesterday, the rifles of the three terrorists were seized and matched with the FSL reports… Further tests were carried out in Chandigarh yesterday, after that it was confirmed that these three were those who carried out the terror attack,” he added.

While making the big announcement, the Home Minister also took a dig at the Opposition, saying, “I was expecting that when they hear this news of killing of the Pahalgam terrorists, they will be happy, but instead they don’t seem happy about it.”

Shah gave the credit for neutralising those who sent the terrorists to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I want to tell all families today that Modi ji neutralised those who sent the terrorists, and today our security forces killed those who committed the killings,” he said.
