NDMC vice chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated two public welfare facilities at the iconic Hanuman Mandir Vatika here on Monday.
The place witnesses a heavy footfall on a daily basis, and houses three prominent temples including the historic ‘Prachin Hanuman Mandir, Ganesh Mandir, and Shiv Mandir.

To cater to the large number of devotees who visit these places of worship every day, the civic body has built a new shaded shoe house and a ‘Free Drinking Water Facility’ at Shiv Mandir, situated within the Vatika.
This arrangement is going to benefit the public, especially those visiting the Ganesh and Shiva temples, Chahal stated, adding that this has been done keeping in mind the rising number of devotees and their convenience, especially amid extreme weather.
He informed that as part of NDMC’s broader initiative to enhance public safety and crowd management at religious and high-footfall sites, a stainless steel Police Tower will also be installed at Hanuman Vatika.
Chahal noted that the area sees large gatherings, especially on Tuesdays and religious festivals, and the special tower will assist police personnel in managing crowds more efficiently and ensuring public safety.
According to the NDMC’s Vice Chairman, this is an expansion of the earlier facility already operational in the complex, ensuring safe and systematic footwear storage for the visitors.
Chahal has installed a water cooler at the Shiv Mandir, while also informing that another water cooler will soon be donated for the Hanuman Mandir complex, where construction work is currently in progress, so that more people can get access to free cold drinking water with ease.
He further said that considering the spiritual significance of the temples and the devotion of thousands of worshippers, NDMC is undertaking several development works around Vatika.
Reaffirming civic body’s focus on quality and service excellence, Chahal stated that the council is striving to ‘Swachh Survekshan.’
He emphasized that ongoing beautification and facility development projects are closely aligned with this goal.
