Six towns and 1,256 villages of the Dausa and Sawai Madhopur districts will get drinking water supply from the newly-built Isarda dam of the neighbouring Tonk district from January next year.

The 262 RL Mtr dam along the Banas river has been built with investment of Rs 1,036 crore for mitigating drinking water shortage in Dausa and Sawai Madhopur, an official spokesman said.

The construction work for the reservoir to attain water level up to 253 RL Mtr (against the permissible maximum gauge of 262 Mtr) was completed in June this year, Now the work on the Pump House 200 mtr away from the reservoir along the downstream Banas. This is likely to be completed by December this year, spokesman said.

The maiden filling of water from the Banas has already begun since July 15 and this is scheduled to be completed (filling up to 253 RL Mtr) by September 15, 2025.

Adequate water discharge in the Banas river from the overflown Bisalpur dam is assuring of timely filling in the new dam as per the schedule. Presently, 4485 cusecs of water was being discharged too, from the Isarda dam.

In the second phase of the project, Isarda dam would provide drinking water in a total 11 cities/towns and 2,547 villages of 4 districts of Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Alwar and Jaipur.
