Ektaa Kapoor has spoken out after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) ordered the blocking of 25 OTT platforms for allegedly publishing obscene and vulgar content. Among the banned platforms was ALTT, which had previously been associated with Kapoor.
In a statement shared on social media, Ektaa clarified that both she and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, had stepped away from ALTT way back in June 2021 and have had no involvement with it since.

The government’s decision to block these OTT platforms came out on July 23, 2025. Officials said the platforms violated several Indian laws, including sections of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.
The platforms in question, including Ullu, Big Shots App, NeonX VIP, and Desiflix, reportedly streamed content with graphic sexual innuendos, nudity, and scenes considered pornographic.
Authorities said much of the content lacked storylines or social value, and in some cases, featured inappropriate situations involving family members.
Ektaa Kapoor addressed the media reports linking her to the issue by stating that her production house, Balaji Telefilms, which is on both the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, is a professional organization.
She added that after the recent merger of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. with Balaji Telefilms, the company began operating ALTT officially from June 20, 2025. She emphasized that despite this update, she and her mother had no part in ALTT’s operations. They exited in 2021.
Kapoor said that any claim suggesting otherwise is completely false and requested the media to report the facts accurately.
She also assured that Balaji Telefilms remains fully compliant with the law and maintains high standards of corporate governance.
