Shruti Haasan had a proud daughter moment on Friday as her father, veteran actor Kamal Haasan, officially stepped into Indian politics by taking oath as a Rajya Sabha MP.

On Instagram, Shruti posted a heartfelt message for her father. She wrote, “My dearest appa, today marks the journey of your steps into a brave new world. Watching you take your oath in the Rajya Sabha with your signature voice echoing through the chambers with strength and gravitas was a moment forever etched in my mind.”

She also added a sweet wish, saying she hopes her father achieves everything he dreams of and that he stays happy always.
Kamal was previously married to actress Sarika. They got married in 1988 and divorced in 2004. The couple has two daughters; Shruti and Akshara Haasan.

“I carry the invisible, enduring presence of my father… In my veins flows not just his blood, but his values,” he wrote. He mentioned how his thinking has been shaped by important leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Periyar.

The 69-year-old actor-politician took his oath in Tamil, his mother tongue. His choice of language was appreciated by many, and he received strong applause from other MPs present in the Upper House of Parliament.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shruti Haasan has a big film coming up. She will star in ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and led by superstar Rajinikanth. The movie also includes big names like Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Upendra. It is going to release on August 14, 2025, and will face a box office clash with ‘War 2’, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
As for Kamal Haasan, his last film was ‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam. He is now working on a new project titled ‘KH237’, which is being directed by action choreographer duo Anbariv. However, not much has been revealed about the storyline or other cast members yet.
