Three booth level polling officers in Jhotwara assembly segment of Rajasthan have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty.
“The trio failed in joining duty in the areas under their respective charge despite repeated directives and reminders,” Jhotwara (Jaipur) Elector Registration Authority Dr L N Bunker said on Wednesday.

The three officials were also contacted over telephone several times for reminding them of the duty. However, this did not work and the booth level polling officers (BLOs) showed total neglect.
This hampered the election related work of utmost national importance and attracted strict disciplinary action, Bunker said.
Accordingly, BLOs — Abhilesh Yogi, Surendra Chaudhary, and Santosh Budhania — were suspended exercising powers under the Sections 32, 13 and 33C of the People’s Representatives Act 1950 and the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeals) Rules 1958, he said.
Appropriately strict disciplinary actions are being contemplated against the officials who show aloofness or negligence towards their assigned election duties, Bunker said.
