Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with MPs from the INDIA bloc, Wednesday staged a protest outside Makar Dwar, Parliament House, against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with MPs from the INDIA bloc, Wednesday staged a protest outside Makar Dwar, Parliament House, against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. The protesting MPs alleged that the SIR amounts to “stealing elections” and displayed placards like “SIR: Stealing Indian Rights” and “SIR: Subverting Indian Republic.”
MPs from Congress, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha participated in the protest.

Opposition MPs demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the House to answer questions on pressing issues like the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, the SIR process in Bihar, and US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of having brokered an India-Pakistan ceasefire.

The protest led to disruptions in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, causing adjournments.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticised the SIR as “vote bandi,” alleging it’s a scheme to deprive citizens of their voting rights.
