The Delhi Police have arrested three illegal Bangladeshi nationals involved in begging and other criminal activities in the city. The arrests were made in the Mukherjee Nagar area, police officials said on Saturday.
According to the police, the arrests were made based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of some Bangladeshi nationals in Mukherjee Nagar. The trio was apprehended during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

“After detaining the three individuals, a detailed verification process was conducted,” a senior police officer stated.
He added, “Their documents were scrutinised, and during the verification process, it was established that they were Bangladeshi nationals.”
The police recovered three identity cards and three smartphones from their possession. The phones were found to have the banned IMO application installed.
Further investigation revealed that the three had been residing illegally in India and were engaged in rag-picking and petty thefts across various parts of the Northwest District, the police added.
Legal proceedings for their deportation have been initiated in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Further investigation is underway.
In a separate case, the Delhi Police also apprehended five other Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, who had been residing illegally in the Palam area of the national capital. They had recently moved to Delhi after working at a brick kiln in Haryana.
They have been identified as Akash (26), Chamili Khatun (26), Mohd. Nahim (27), Halima Begum (40), and Mohd. Usman (13).
The police received a tip-off on July 13 regarding the presence of illegal Bangladeshi migrants in Palam Village.
Acting swiftly, the police approached the suspects, requested their identification documents, and conducted a detailed inquiry.
The individuals failed to produce valid documents and admitted to having entered India illegally in 2017, the police said.
