JSW Steel reports 158% YoY jump in Q1 net profit to ₹2,184 cr

According to the company’s statement, revenue from operations stood at ₹43,147 crore for the quarter, up 0.5% from ₹42,943 crore in the year-ago period. However, revenue declined 3.7% sequentially from ₹44,819 crore in Q4 FY25.

JSW Steel announced on Friday that it posted a consolidated net profit of ₹2,184 crore for the first quarter (Q1) of financial year 2025–26 (FY26), marking a sharp 158% year-on-year (YoY) increase from ₹845 crore in Q1 FY25. Sequentially, profit rose 45% from ₹1,503 crore.

According to the company’s statement, revenue from operations stood at ₹43,147 crore for the quarter, up 0.5% from ₹42,943 crore in the year-ago period. However, revenue declined 3.7% sequentially from ₹44,819 crore in Q4 FY25.

Total expenses for the quarter stood at ₹40,325 crore, down 3.3% from ₹41,715 crore in Q1 FY25. On a sequential basis, expenses declined 6.3%, indicating improved cost efficiency, the company noted.

JSW Steel’s consolidated crude steel production reached 7.26 million tonnes (MT) in Q1 FY26, registering a 14% YoY increase. Capacity utilisation at its Indian facilities stood at 87%, down from 93% in the previous quarter due to planned maintenance shutdowns.

Steel sales during the quarter rose 9% YoY to 6.69 MT, with both institutional and retail volumes registering 12% annual growth.

However, the company’s exports declined 20% YoY in Q1 FY26, accounting for just 7% of total sales from Indian operations, the statement added.
