In light of the opposition’s attacks regarding the potential excitement of the monsoon session, the government is preparing to provide an appropriate response. This session presents numerous challenges for both the government and the opposition, along with opportunities to raise several significant issues.

A guideline is being prepared for the members of parliament from the government side to address the questions posed by the opposition. Meanwhile, the government will also attempt to pass several important bills during this session, including a proposal for the establishment of a Sports regulatory authority. In this session, the opposition is gearing up to corner the government on multiple issues.

The monsoon session of the parliament is commencing at a time when political tensions regarding the SIR process in Bihar have escalated significantly. The opposition parties, including the Congress, are continuously launching attacks against the Election Commission and the government.

The opposition claims that the Election Commission has arbitrarily initiated this process. The primary objective of this process, they argue, is to provide advantages to the ruling party. Several opposition parties, including the RJD, have raised concerns that the documents requested for voter verification are not accessible to the general public. They have demanded the inclusion of various identification documents, such as MGNREGA work cards, in addition to the Aadhaar.

There is discontent among opposition parties regarding the special deep revision of the voter list (SIR) ahead of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Previously, a bandh was called in Bihar over this issue. The opposition alleges that the SIR could disenfranchise the poor and marginalised communities.

The opposition parties have raised concerns about the Election Commission’s procedures related to the revision of the voter list (SIR) in Bihar. They assert that this process is unreasonable and could undermine the foundations of democracy.

The government anticipates significant turmoil regarding Operation Sindoor in the upcoming monsoon session. The manner in which U.S. President Donald Trump demanded mediation for a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor was entirely unacceptable to the opposition parties. Even during the ceasefire, the opposition parties insisted that the government promptly convene a special parliamentary session for discussion.

The third largest issue is the language debate; everyone is aware of the recent events regarding the language controversy in Maharashtra. The government has had to concede to the opposition parties and revoke its decision. In this context, there is a likelihood that this matter will be raised during the monsoon session of Parliament. The opposition parties are accusing the government of attempting to impose Hindi on the populace.

Starting from July 21, a new attendance system will be implemented for the upcoming monsoon session of the Lok Sabha, applicable not only to Members of Parliament but also to journalists.

During this session, Lok Sabha members will be able to register their attendance directly from their seats, whereas previously they had to sign in a register located in the Parliament’s lobby.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat is now preparing to fully digitise the attendance registration process for its members. Under this new system, members must enter the hall to register their attendance; otherwise, they will be marked as absent. Following the implementation of this system, there is a likelihood of increased attendance among Members of Parliament.

Sources indicate that the opposition party is preparing to confront the government regarding the Ahmedabad plane crash and its subsequent preliminary report. The opposition has raised questions about aviation safety directed at the government. In recent months, several incidents related to plane crashes and aviation safety have occurred, prompting the opposition to demand regular responses from the government.

The government is planning to introduce a bill aimed at increasing private sector participation in the nuclear energy field. This initiative is under close scrutiny from the opposition, as it pertains to sensitive issues related to national security and the environment. Economic and social matters, including inflation, unemployment, and the state of the economy, will serve as the primary weapons for the opposition in this session.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has stated that the main issues that may be raised by the opposition pertain to matters such as India-China relations. He noted that the opposition has been demanding discussions in Parliament regarding India-China relations for the past five years. This issue has intensified following recent military revelations. The opposition may demand a clear response from the government on this matter.
