The 77th Emmy Awards nominations are out, and HBO Max is once again leading the pack. This year, the streaming giant pulled in an impressive 142 nominations, marking its best-ever performance.
It even outpaced its 2020 tally of 140 nods, though the all-time record still belongs to Netflix, which scored 160 nominations that same year.

In 2025, HBO Max’s success is largely driven by standout shows like ‘The Penguin’, which landed 24 nominations, and returning hits like ‘The White Lotus’ with 23 nods. The post-apocalyptic drama ‘The Last of Us’, starring Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, added another 16 nominations to the platform’s haul.
Meanwhile, the comedy series ‘Hacks’, already an Emmy favorite, earned 14 nominations, making it the second-most nominated comedy series this year.
Netflix wasn’t far behind, claiming 120 nominations, up from 107 last year. However, it still trails HBO Max in this year’s race.
One of the biggest surprises this year came from Apple TV+, which continues its meteoric rise in the awards circuit. Despite being in the game for only six years, Apple grabbed 79 nominations.
Its dark workplace thriller ‘Severance’ led the drama category with a massive 27 nominations, making it the single most-nominated series of the season.
Comedy-drama ‘Shrinking’ also brought in 7 nominations for Apple.
Disney’s platforms made a strong showing too, collectively earning 136 nominations across Hulu, FX, and Disney+. FX’s culinary comedy-drama ‘The Bear’ led the way with 13 nominations, while ‘Andor’ Season 2 on Disney+ picked up 14 nods in the drama category.
Interestingly, FX’s overall tally dipped this year compared to its dominant run in 2024 with ‘Shogun’, which alone had 25 nominations last time. Still, with Hulu and FX combined bringing in 95 nominations, Disney continues to be a significant contender.
Last year’s Hollywood strikes had slowed down the awards momentum for many, including HBO Max, which only managed 91 nominations in 2024. But this year’s numbers prove the platform is back in full force.
