The Congress party has decided to corner the government during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament on several key issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, US President Donald Trump’s claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, alleged electoral manipulations in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, and Bihar, and the Election Commission’s SIR initiative in Bihar.

The decisions were taken at a Parliamentary strategy meeting of the Congress party, convened by Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday.

“About three months have passed since the Pahalgam terror attack, but there is still no trace of the terrorists,” said Pramod Tiwari, Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, while briefing the media after the meeting.

He said the party would also raise concerns over alleged electoral irregularities in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Bihar, where the election process has come under suspicion.

In addition, the Congress plans to highlight rising crimes against women and Scheduled Castes across the country, particularly in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.

The party will demand the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which remains pending despite repeated assurances from the government. It will also seek clarification from the government on Trump’s repeated claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

“The Congress would like to seek answers from the government on Trump’s repeated claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan,” Tiwari reiterated.

The Congress Parliamentary Party’s strategy meeting was chaired by Sonia Gandhi and attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

A meeting of INDIA bloc partners will also be held before the Monsoon Session to coordinate strategies and raise issues collectively in both Houses of Parliament. The Monsoon Session is scheduled to begin on July 21 and will continue until August 21.
