Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi also lauded the achievement, saying, “In a world seeking climate solutions, India is showing the way. Achieving 50 percent non-fossil fuel capacity five years ahead of the 2030 target is a proud moment for every Indian. Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s leadership continues to drive Bharat’s green transformation—paving the way for a sustainable future.”
India’s push for renewable energy is a key part of its efforts to combat climate change and fulfill its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
The country aims to reduce emissions intensity and increase the share of non-fossil fuels in its power generation capacity. With this achievement, India is well on its way to meeting its climate goals and setting an inspiring example for the rest of the world.
