Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his deep sadness over the passing away of Fauja Singh, the 114-year-old marathon legend known as the “Turbaned Tornado.” Singh tragically died in a road accident in his native village in Punjab’s Jalandhar district.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of centenarian marathon legend, the globally celebrated ‘Turbaned Tornado,’ Fauja Singh ji. His life, a testament to unwavering determination and unbridled resilience, serves as a profound inspiration for fitness enthusiasts, aspiring athletes, and the young and old alike. My deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and admirers,” Kharge said in a heartfelt condolence message on his handle X.

Fauja Singh was a British Sikh athlete of Indian origin who gained international recognition for completing marathons well into his old age. He became the oldest person to finish a full marathon at the age of 100, completing the 2011 Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Singh’s life story is an inspiration to millions, showcasing his determination and resilience.

Other leaders, including Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, have also paid tribute to Singh’s remarkable life and achievements. “Deeply saddened by the passing of Sardar Fauja Singh Ji, the legendary marathon runner and symbol of resilience,” Kataria said.
