Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has accused the BJP government of making fun of democracy by rigging elections.

“Now, the decision of the Election Commission to minimise the voters in one polling booth from 1,500 to 1,200 has been taken on behest of the BJP so that 300 voters’ names could be chopped out in one go as the voters would face uncertainty about their booths,” he alleged.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the SP president alleged that the BJP won the 2022 assembly elections by looting votes. He said the Samajwadi Party had given a list of 18,000 voters to the Election Commission of India (ECI) whose names were deleted from the electoral list during the 2022 elections but the matter is in cold storage so far.

“In Ayodhya, an elderly person openly cast six votes in 2022 polls even as BJP’s conspiracy was exposed in Milkipur, Moradabad, Kundarki, Meerapur assembly bypolls. Hence, Samajwadi Party workers have to be more vigilant during the 2027 assembly elections,” he said.

Akhilesh Yadav called the drive to plant 37 crore saplings just another hoax. “Over 200 crore trees have been planted in the eight-year BJP rule. When only 1.24 lakh trees could be planted on 1000 acres of land, anyone can imagine how much area would be required for 200 crore trees. Is that possible in UP, ” he questioned.
