Continuing its push for innovation and technical reform, the Uttar Pradesh government has fully digitized boiler operation, inspection, and monitoring systems across the state, officials said on Wednesday.

This transformative step places UP among the leading states in India implementing industrial safety, energy efficiency, and green technology in an integrated manner. The move not only enhances transparency and efficiency but also ensures safer and more sustainable industrial operations.

They said at present, UP has a total of 3,037 operational boilers — the third highest in the country. These are used in various industrial units across sectors such as food processing, cement, chemicals, textiles, sugar, and power.

Boilers are the backbone of industrial units, and their safe and energy-efficient operation not only enhances productivity, but also plays a vital role in worker safety and environmental balance.

In a decisive move, the UP government has made all boiler-related services completely online. From registration, renewal, construction, and repair to erection permissions — everything is now digitised. The portal also provides complete listings of boiler manufacturers, erectors, and welders. This digital shift has not only brought transparency but also ensured timely services to entrepreneurs, eliminating unnecessary delays and visits.

Even post-inspection reports and compliance processes are now completed digitally, leaving little room for delay or confusion. The inspection logbook for new boilers is also prepared entirely online.

Recently, environmental think tank iFOREST, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and the Uttar Pradesh Labour Department, organised the country’s first National Industrial Boiler Green Conclave in Lucknow.

The goal of the historic event was to promote green boilers powered by biomass, hydrogen, and other renewable sources. Uttar Pradesh is now positioning itself as a leader in the green energy revolution. With transparency, efficiency, and green energy at the core of boiler management, UP is emerging as a model for the industrial sector.

The Yogi government’s aim is not only to ensure smooth operations but also to equip industries with safety, environmental sustainability, and modern technologies.

This system is benefiting not only large industries, but also small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which now have easy access to government services. As a result, Uttar Pradesh is becoming a beacon of industrial reforms and technical innovation. Over the past year, the state has recorded the highest number of new factory registrations in the country.

The Yogi government remains fully committed to striking a balance between developmental goals and environmental responsibility.
