He wrote in his docial media account: “Yesterday, I had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue with KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), in Jakarta. Our discussion reaffirmed the shared responsibility of democratic societies to strengthen interfaith understanding and confront extremist ideologies with unity and conviction.
“We also visited the Gandhi Memorial School in Jakarta, where we paid heartfelt tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and interacted with members of the Gandhi Seva Loka Association. It was a solemn reminder of Gandhiji’s timeless message, a call for non-violence, justice, and human dignity that resonates across borders.
“We also had an engaging interaction with business and community leaders from the Indian diaspora. I emphasised that they are the living ambassadors of India’s pluralism and diversity, upholding the values of our Constitution and strengthening India’s image around the world through their contributions.
“Also had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with representatives of the Jakarta Bengali Association (JABA). It was truly heartening to see familiar Bengali faces so far away from home. India remains steadfast in its commitment, as a partner, as a democracy, and as a nation that believes peace is the strongest response to violence.”
