Sashi Tharoor said if the people want he is ready to be the Chief Minister of Kerala. He further said that humour is off from the politics of Kerala.
Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said that he was ready to become the Chief Minister if the people of Kerala want him. But in the same breath he said that it was for the people to decide.
Speaking at the Manorama News newsmaker debate, Sashi Tharoor said “I’m ready for the role. But the ultimate decision belongs to the people. The responsibility of finding the underlying reasons for the issues faced by Kerala lies with us.”
Tharoor did not rule out the possibility of contesting for the Congress Working Committee(CWC) election.
“A lot of people have supported me openly and discretely to run for the Congress presidentship. I’ll discuss the matter of CWC election with them and take a decision in two weeks,” he said.
Shashi Tharoor said that his remark that one Nair cannot accept another Nair was a joke addressed to the NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair
It’s a pity that humour has no place in Kerala politics,” he said adding that no one should be confused about his belief system and ideology.
“Mannam (Mannath Padmanabhan) used to say that it’s a tough task to organise the Nairs. He has said it’s difficult for one Nair to accept another member of the community. He said it a century ago. .But even now, sometimes, I find it’s true in politics,” Tharoor had told the gathering of NSS members at the Mannam. Jayanthi celebrations at Perunna last week.
