Dinesh Karthik, along with all-rounder Krunal Pandya, almost snatched a win in the third and last T20I against New Zealand as the duo added 63 runs for the seventh wicket while chasing a mammoth total of 213 runs.

However, Dinesh Karthik has come under fire from the Twitterati after he refused to take a single when India needed 14 runs off 4 balls in the final over. Not only Krunal Pandya has a better strike rate than Karthik, but a left-hander at the crease would have unsettled the bowler.

Karthik backed himself to win the game for India but that did not happen and Twitter went all guns blazing.

What was DK’s point in refusing the single? It’s not like he was batting with a tailender who couldn’t have hit a 6. Krunal had just as much chance of clearing the boundary as DK. This “misjudgement” might perhaps cost him a potential World Cup spot. #NZvIND
