India’s upper order batsman Shikhar Dhawan had a special message for his limited overs opening partner and ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma, the after ‘hitman’ became the proud father of a baby girl on December 30 last year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday shared a video of Dhawan congratulating Rohit on Twitter and posted: “Congrats on becoming a Daddy @ImRo45 – @SDhawan25 has a message for you 😁😁 #TeamIndia.”

In the video, Dhawan can be heard saying, “He (Rohit Sharma) was the father of batting already and now he is a father in real life too, I am very happy for him and I know he is happy as well. I know he will make a great father.”

Earlier, during India’s four-match Test series against Australia, Rohit missed the fourth and final Test as he flew back home to meet his wife and the newborn.

Along with the beautiful poem for his daughter, Rohit Sharma also shared a link for the song Girls Like You by Maroon 5.

Virat Kohli-led Team India won the four-match Test series 2-1 and in the process became the first Asian team to achieve the feat in Down Under.
