Driver commits suicide in SHO’s car parked near R-Day parade venue in Ludhiana

Manjit Ram, a head constable of Punjab  Police, reportedly, committed suicide on Friday morning in the parking of venue of the Republic Day parade at Government Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.

The 44-year-old man shot himself dead with AK-47 rifle. Manjit, who was from Beer village in Nakodar, also worked as a driver with Station House Officer (SHO) of Jagraon city, according to the Times of India.

The TOI report added that it was a constable who heard the noise of breaking of window pane of the vehicle. He was already dead when people found him in the car.

Manjit died on the spot and his body was shifted to the mortuary of Civil Hospital for post mortem.

The reason behind the suicide is not known yet. But the reports suggest that he was indulged in property dispute with his brother. He also had taken hefty loan from a bank for domestic purpose which may have driven him to take the step.
