A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said the court would be “very shy” to direct arrests unless specifically sought by probe agencies such as the CBI or Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Supreme Court said current acid attack laws are not strong enough. It asked the Centre to widen the definition of survivors and consider stricter action against attackers and illegal acid sellers.
