CAG to conduct ‘Urban Mobility’ audit in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack
An entry conference for the proposed audit was held at Kharabela Bhawan here under the chairpersonship of Housing and Urban Development Department Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee.
Former Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Monday took over as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, officials said.
Mehrishi was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Ram Nath Kovind in a special ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also present at the function.

Mehrishi, a 1978-batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, retired as Home Secretary on 30 August and has replaced Shashi Kant Sharma.
Mehrishi, 62, will have a tenure of about three years as the CAG is appointed for a term of six years or till the incumbent attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
The CAG is primarily entrusted with the responsibility to audit the accounts of the Union government and of the state governments and its reports are laid before Parliament and legislatures of the states.
Considering Mehrishi’s clean image, he was among the top choice of the government for the post of CAG, officials said.
