UP: Portfolios handed out to new ministers

Lucknow, 28 July: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today allocated portfolios to the newly inducted ministers while changing departments of some of them, official sources said.
While the Revenue Department has been given to Mr Shivpal Yadav from Ms Ambika Chowdhury, who will now head the Backward Welfare and Handicap Welfare departments only, the sources said.
Among the newly inducted ministers, Mr Narad Rai has been given Sports and Youth Welfare portfolio while Mr Kailash has been given the Khadi and Village Industries.
Mr Ram Murti Verma and Ms Gayatri Prasad Prajapati will continue with their departments ~ the Milk Development and Mining respectively, they added.
While Mr Verma was elevated to the Cabinet rank, Ms Prajapati was given the status of state minister with independent charge in Cabinet expansion held on 18 July.
Mr Akhilesh Yadav on 23 July had indicated that the Cabinet and the administrative changes might take place soon to spruce things up in the state.    pti
